not purposefully so. Guys like JW3, Clark, Teki, Gant, and Wright committed to the perception of a vastly different program that what it actually became. MU was a legit major conference program that competed at a national level when they agreed to be a part of it. It was putting a high number of its players in professional leagues and even the NBA. I do think that contributed to alot of the disconnect and reason for them leaving.
This current roster is a group of players who I am sure are absolutely thrilled not only to be given an opportunity to play at an SEC level school, but have the opportunity for immediate playing time and significant roles. They have a more accurate view of what MU basketball actually is when they signed up and a more aligned perception and expectation.
