Both will demand huge contracts. Hosmer will age better at 1B than Cain will at CF.

I love 'em both, but if I'm Dayton Moore and can sign only one of them, I'm signing Hosmer. Great defense, solid to great bat, amazing bridge between hispanic and non-hispanic players in the clubhouse. Can be the face of a franchise, he has it all.

Which is not to say that the signing is even possible.
