I could possibly buy that a speechwriter inserted the excerpts as sort of an "easter egg" thing, thinking he/she was being clever, and betting that no one would notice.

My own theory is that Mrs. Trump actually wrote much of the speech herself and had read previous First Lady speeches as inspiration, but just got a little carried away. English is a second language. I can't fault her for that.

The speech itself should not be an issue. But how the Trump campaign is handling the aftermath shows a complete lack of discipline.

Regardless, how do you think this helps Trump?
