You're right in that sense that nothing is impacted; nothing in most people's lives really changes because of this.

However, I think that because it's Trump's wife, and because she's being skewered, that as long as the focus is on her and not the convention it's detrimental to Trump. That's why I don't think this will be forgotten until he acts.
