based on a bed of lies. But I would say that some reform would be a good thing.
Departments have been perhaps too responsive to the black community and their constant requests for police to fix the crime in their neighborhoods. This has resulted in a simultaneous response from others in those communities, often those with criminal tendencies, to vocally and physically oppose all authority.
And departments have been too quick to use neighborhood crime statistics to determine how best to distribute officers to control crime. This has drawn more police presence in high crime neighborhoods, which often is minority neighborhoods.
More training is never a bad thing. Who would oppose that? But make it training that is worthwhile, and not propaganda. Let's solve real training needs, and not imaginary ones.
Police departments should strive to recruit better candidates, and the country should offer more support and better pay for officers to accomplish this.
Police should be recognized more for vigorously rooting out bad officers, instead of judged by the actions of an extreme few.
