I socially liberal, but fiscally responsible. I voted for GHWB over Dukakis in 1988. Then I learned that the GOP isn't actually fiscally responsible (they generate far larger deficits than Dems) and they used to have a place for folks more moderate on social issues, but certainly no longer. Voted for Clinton in 92 and 96, Nader in 2000 (couldn't stand Gore or W, and Missouri wasn't going for Gore, so I didnt feel like I was stealing EVs from Gore), and have been Dem ever since.

I would vote for the right Republican or or especially a Libertarian if their economic ideas weren't so incredibly stupid.
