Preseason poll is fine, but it should be a prediction of the end of the season and every single voter should publish their predicted game by game results of every single team that they rank. Force them to actually do the exercise.

Then, I’d say no new poll until after week 2. Waiting till October makes a lot of sense, BUT too much is dictated by the rankings…like tv slots, coverage on highlights and in all media.
