My morning routine for years was to read the paper. I don't remember when we canceled the local paper. Probably 15 years ago or so. Every driveway had a paper not that long ago. Now none do. At some point we switched to digital.
Really having screen fatigue and started print subscriptions this summer. Very enjoyable. We get the WSJ & NYT. Both use the same distributor so they come at the same time.
Out of nostalgia I got the Post Dispatch delivered this summer. Somehow didn't notice that it's $78/month. Almost a grand a year. The paper is a shell of its former self. Sparse, mostly AP stories. Very little original content. No personalities like it used to have. Even the Op ed page is content from other papers. Sad, but no way I'm paying for that. Just canceled. I might subscribe to the digital only when they come begging in September.
