protected speech. As long as you are burning a flag that belongs to you and you are doing the burning on private property with the consent of the landowner.

We do need to be consistent with our views on freedom of speech. You cannot advocate for the freedom to burn the flag while trying to silence 'hate speech' or vice versa.

There is no right not to be offended. That means that people have the right to say truly offensive things. That also means that the cops cannot arrest you for shouting the 'N-word'. But that does not mean that your employer, school or other organizations cannot take action. First Amendment protections only apply to the government, not private entities.
