be an unbearable amount of rivalry games missed, it seems to me.
Playing 9 of the other 15 teams every year means you would play every team 2 out of every years.
Rivalries can also wax and wane over the years. Some decades there may be a fierce rivalry, other times one team may really dominate & the rivalry loses some of its luster.
In similar fashion, new rivalries can be formed if you are playing every other team 2/3rds of the time.
