I and a classmate lived ON Malibu beach with a deck over the water. I think our housing allowance was around $85, which covered it. Then, Calif. was about as cheap as anyplace in the country. Lived there over 25 yrs and never figured I'd leave, with beach one weekend and skiing the next.

Now, glad I did.
