Fact is none of us have seen any camp or really know, but from what I've seen and heard, it's Pribula. A few things in his favor:
1. Maturity - In the interviews I have seen of the two Pribula really stands out. Also, from teammates of Penn St. I've read where Pribula really came in fired up and in command of the huddle in that Wisconsin game. I haven't seen or really heard of that about Horn.
2. Game Time - Pribula clearly leads in this and its not close. Now, you can say that's Drinks fault but Horn's injuries due to baseball are just as much to blame. What matters is who has it and that's Pribula.
3. Commitment - Pribula has been reported as being a film junkie. Drink loves that. Maybe Horn is as well, but this dual sport thing has cost Horn dearly and I just don't see him in that light.
4. Talent - This is a toss up because we just don't know. But Pribula looked pretty sharp and confident in the 2nd half of that Wisconsin game. I think I saw one real target miss in that half where he went 11/13. Again, small samples, but from what I've seen I have to give the nod to Pribula.
5. Durability - Again, small sample sizes and Horn has been hurt with Tommy John (not necessarily an indication of durability) but again, from what we've seen it's Pribula.
6. Mobility - This is one where Horn may get the nod, but again, after seeing Pribula run at Penn St. I think this is a push, if not a slight edge, for Pribula.
Bottom Line, this is Pribula's to lose and I don't see him doing that. Drink said yesterday that he's been really impressed his Pribula's arm, although I've also heard he's said Sam has a slight edge. I think that's just motivation talk for Pribula and to ensure everyone knows this is a true competition. I would lay 9-1 odds that it's Pribula to start and maybe some platoon time in game one.
