A lot of people don’t get this and I get a number of people are too young to understand it. But Jones was really the key. It was totally smart of Larry Smith to put him in toward the end of the 95 season and change the offense to the option/smash mouth offense - I went to every single game back then and you could see the team getting better even the last few games of 95. The huge crowds returned to Farout for games against top rated Kansas State, Nebraska, Colorado etc. It turned everything around and showed Pinkel the potential and then he took it from there and it eventually led to the SEC .
