rural America because people no longer shopped there when they could hop on the highway and go to the next town 30 minutes away and shop at Wal-Mart?

Since no one was going to Main Street to shop, the downtown cafe closed (they had the best pies). Pretty much the only thing left was the feed store and the big farms had that delivered as part of their contract as a corporate farm operation.
