I would say Quin is an example of a coach who didn’t have that and tried to be that himself.

Norm had Rich Daly, Mike Anderson had Melvin Watkins, and Haith had Fuller. I think all of those worked very well and paid huge benefits. Cuonzo tried to do it himself, Kim wasn’t a real coach and we weren’t even trying, and Quin tried to do it himself. Quin was the only one in the latter group it wasn’t a disaster. Without CY I think Gates is much more in the do it yourself category
