Yes. You can find this attitude in surprising places. I had been retired for only a couple of years and was randomly selected for jury duty. The was to be seated in State Circuit Court, in which the Judges are elected. The case was a civil lawsuit, not a criminal trial. They don't provide any information regarding the nature of the case or the identity of the plaintiffs or defendants. I'm sitting in the courtroom of our County Courthouse with maybe a hundred or so other potential jurors. The Judge explains the circumstances under which an individual might be excused from jury duty and then he asks for a show of hands of those who think they should be excused. I raise my hand and maybe a dozen more do likewise. One by one we are summoned to approach the bench and offer our reasons to the Judge. Bear in mind I had extensive experience working important cases far above his pay grade, cases at both the State and Federal Court level. I explain to the Judge who I worked for and what I did and the potential that I might have personal knowledge of the principals or of the subject matter. He gives me a disgusted look and says to me, "get the f*** out of my courtroom"!
