should never have publicly said (in either instance) he was searching for a woman of color.

now everyone thinks (even to some extent Jackson and Harris) and will always think that was their only qualification.

If Joe wanted a woman of color, fine, but he should have kept it to himself if he wanted them fully respected as serious nominations.
