fringe. When Obama was reelected I wondered if we would see a GOP president again. Had the dem party used that as a time to moderate a bit and expand the middle I believe they would have become a force very difficult to beat for decades to come. Instead, they went hard to the politics of identity, grievance, victimization, and special interest. It energized them shortly but all evidence now shows it has alienated a large part of their traditional, working middle class base. And Trump has done a masterful job of bringing them the GOP way.
