Devine left after the '70 season and he was the one who kicked Matuszak off the team.

He had allegedly gotten in a fight in a bar and beat the crap out of a guy. Someone had said that Devine didn't think he could control him and it was the only time he wanted another coach in the room (Onofrio) when he issued his walking papers.
