California is not the answer in softball

Lots of people on here say you HAVE to recruit California players to be successful. Of the eight teams in the WCWS 48 players come from California. However, 35 of those were on the UCLA, Oklahoma and Oregon rosters. The two teams in the final, Texas and Tech, had one total. Tennessee and Florida totaled five. Ole Miss had 7. Other top teams like Arkansas, Florida State, LSU and Alabama totaled just 3 from California. As one would expect with Texas and Tech in the final eight, Texas was the dominant state. Saying you cannot win without California players may have been true 10 years ago, but not today.
