on some promises and helped their former satellites, but didn't really give them the help in recovering like we did the others, or like we did with Japan or Germany after WWII.

They wanted to become more westernized, but the US didn't follow through on their initial offers of friendship and treated them like an enemy/adversary.

There really was no need to do so.
