incredibly fluky.

It's not being negative, it's being realistic about that team and the overall direction of the program at the time. They hadn't (and haven't) earned an at-large bid since 2009. They missed out in 2010 and 2011 and then went on a fluky run in 2012 or they wouldn't have made it that year either.
