which are built on cheap labor, e.g. reportedly $400/month in china nike plants. that's about a quarter of what the average american makes.

so, the tax is absorbed by the supplier, walmart, the consumer, or it's not purchased at all. every product and services has a finite value beyond which customers walk. for example, i eat very little steak.
