people were isolated. No one was travelling on airplanes. People wore masks. They practiced social distancing. They washed their hands. The same precautions people took to avoid catching COVID drastically reduced the number of flu cases.
From a personal standpoint, I usually get 2-3 colds a year. From the time I started working from home in April 2020 until the time I was vaccinated in mid 2021 I didn't get sick once. The same reasons apply. I wasn't in the position to get exposed to the viruses that cause the cold and flu.
