Companies like United Airlines, Marriott, Live Nation, Carnival Cruise lines, etc... took some of the hardest hits during the Covid-19 impact. Some dropping by over 50% in 2020 and several never fully recovering,
Discretionary spending (vacations and other leisure) is usually a pretty good indicator of how the economy is doing in terms of families having to watch their budget.
What could throw a wrinkle in this is if other countries continue to boycott travel to the U.S. due to these tariffs and threat of deportation.
International travel to U.S. down 14%.
From Canada: down 26%
From Western Europe: 17% decline
Asia: down 25%
South America: down 10%
If this 14% decline were to hold through 2025, the U.S. stands to lose $21 billion in travel-related exports.
