Biden 'unsecured the border on purpose'

'Border Czar' Tom Homan joined press secretary Karoline Leavitt first thing Monday morning in the briefing room to celebrate successfully securing the border in the first 100 days of President Trump's second term in office.

After 99 days, "we have the most secure border in the history of this nation," Homan said. "Joe Biden was the first president in the history of this nation who came into office and unsecured the border on purpose."

"It was Biden's awful open borders policy that recklessly allowed over 10 million illegal aliens to invade the United States," Karoline Leavitt added. "America's borders are now secure because of President Trump. He has restored the rule of law, enforced our immigration laws, and defended America's sovereignty."

TOM HOMAN: I started in Border Patrol in 1984. I’ve been at this for over 40 years and have worked for six presidents, starting with Ronald Reagan. Every president I worked for took border security seriously because you can’t have national security if you don’t have strong border security. You can’t know who’s coming in and what’s coming in, right? Even President Obama and President Clinton took some steps to secure the border because national security was important.

Joe Biden is the first president in the history of this nation who came into office and unsecured the border on purpose. That’s just a fact. We handed the Biden administration, after President Trump’s first administration, the most secure border in my lifetime, and they unsecured it on purpose.

Now, President Trump and this administration here, it’s a success, it’s unprecedented. We’ve beat the Trump administration’s first-term border success. Border numbers are at a historic low. Today, we have the most secure border in the history of this nation, and the numbers prove it. President Trump’s policies are saving lives every day.

There have been studies done: 30% of women who make their journey with the cartels get sexually assaulted. When Trump’s immigration policies are in place, it’s 6%—96% fewer people are coming -- women are not being sexually assaulted by the cartels. How many children are not dying making the journey? How many women and children are not being sex trafficked in this nation? How many known suspected terrorists are not making it into this country? How many pounds of fentanyl aren’t getting into this country to kill young Americans? How many women and children are not being sex trafficked?

Under Joe Biden, sex trafficking was up 600%. We had 4,000 aliens die making the journey. We had, accordingly, Americans dead from fentanyl that came across the border. President Trump’s policies save lives every day. Even the border wall saves lives. People want to hate on the border wall, but every place there is a part of the wall, illegal immigration has declined. You know what no one talks about? The border wall saves lives because the most vulnerable women and children can’t get over that wall, which means they’re going to a place where there’s not a wall, and what’s waiting are the men and women of the United States Border Patrol who will take care of those humanitarian needs to help.

We just followed numbers. Let’s quickly talk about a few numbers that are important. Under the Biden administration, we averaged over 11,000—many days over 12,000, some days 15,000—illegal entrants into the United States. Do you know what the number was in the last 24 hours? 178. From 15,000 to 178, unprecedented success.

On an average day under the Biden administration, known gotaways—people we knew crossed the border because of video, drones, sensors, trucks, who crossed the border, were not apprehended, nothing to prevent them, and were not vetted—averaged more than 1,800 gotaways. Yesterday, 38. Thirty-eight is too many. We’ll get that to zero, but we went from 1,800 to 38.

Finally, it was said earlier, in the first 100 days, which was actually January 20 to April 1, last year, 184,000 illegal aliens were released into the United States. Under this administration, nine. Four were material witnesses in a criminal investigation who got in here to testify in a serious criminal trial. Four had extreme medical conditions; we couldn’t return them because they were in such bad shape. And one was a humanitarian issue. This is unprecedented success. The border is secure.

President Trump is saving lives here. President Trump has proven no one does it better than President Trump. There is no equal, not even close. So, God bless the men and women of the Border Patrol, God bless the men and women of ICE. They strap on a Kevlar vest every day now to secure our borders and protect this nation. The ICE agents in the interior, they are removing public safety threats every day while you’re all sleeping at two, three in the morning. Those men and women out there enforcing the law, making this country safe again. We’re going to keep doing it, full speed ahead.
