25 vs 26
I know this is not a direct correlation because roles were not, nor will be, defined quite this strictly, but making a general comparison of top 10 vs top 10.
Nor is this a prediction of next year's starting lineup.
PG - Robinson -> Robinson - upgrade
PG2 - Barrett -> Barrett - upgrade
Wing - Perkins -> Mack - wash? better D, less O
Wing - Bates -> Crews - downgrade
Wing3 - Grill -> Boateng - downgrade
Wing4 - Warrick -> Pierce - upgrade with TP development
Forward - Pierce -> Porter - I expect TP to be better than JP in '26, but I expect JP'26 to be better than TP'25.
Forward2 - Crews -> Marshall/Northweather - better be an upgrade
Post - Mitchell -> Mitchell - wash
Post 2 - Gray -> Burns - Hopefully more offense and shot blocking, but not going to have the beef to stand ground.
We still need an elite perimeter shooter for the wing in the portal, but this roster would not be a bad team. The "best" news for this roster is that most of the top of the SEC is going to have much more significant turnover, and continuity and chemistry prove their value every year.
A key to the lineup here may be whether or not Burns is the unicorn they say he is. Big IF from guy who repeatedly talked up Kaleb Brown. Burns is not going to do certain things on the level of Gray, but if he can be a better overall option, a starting lineup of
Robinson
Mack
Pierce
Mitchell
Burns
could be solid.
