Trump doesn’t care about other people or our country in general, and he is way too stupid to understand things like global trade or economics. He has a short term plan to grift to his personal benefit and those he owes favors, and doesn’t care or understand anything beyond that. You are attributing a level of strategy and nuance that he is comically unable to understand
