Recruiting is a different game now. Full scholarship offers are not enough anymore. Unless you have donors that will step up with NIL offers, you get what you can. I see your coaches point though. A team who plays for the love of the game and for each other can go a long way; however, there will be inconsistent years while rebuilding. OU is successful because of the $50,000 stipend each player receives.
