the constraints geography presents for a conventional war in EurAsia. Our Navy would be particularly useless, except for protecting convoys crossing the Atlantic. Our Airforce would face the same problems the Ukrainians have. Everything they put up over the theater gets shot down almost immediately. They base everything in Poland and Romania and only fly them into the Ukraine for a brief landing so they can say they aren't attacking from a Nato base. As for ground forces, they don't exist in the numbers capable of anything beyond a COIN type operation. We are no longer capable of a 'Desert Storm' size campaign. It would take many years to reorganize, train and supply Division and Corps strength Army units. They we have to ship them into an active theater with well defended air and sea lanes. It would have been much better not to have started this conflict in 2014. The goals set then are unattainable now. Better to find a way out now before the Europeans suck us in further.
