They interviewed the two who had their 6 days stay turn into a 9 month ordeal. When asked how they felt when they learned it would be a much longer stay, one of them basically said they turned their focus onto their responsibility to NASA, to the mission, and to their country. They realized there simply was not time to dwell on their feelings about it as there it would only take away from the value and effectiveness of the work at hand.
In other words, they didn't wallow in self-pity and needy affirmations from others. They bucked up and went to work for 9 months knowing it would get resolved.
