to the tune of around $500 million a year. Every other employee at the university has their salary publicly available.

The salaries of the players should be public information.

Regarding Tonje he had an injured foot and Gates wanted the #5 freshman class in the nation and the #12 transfer class. He went for the greener grass on the other side of the fence.

Grill was healthy by the end of last season and Tonje wasn't. Perfectly logical to keep Grill. The question becomes whether spending money on the rarely used fresman and some of the rarely used transfers would have been better spent on Tonje. It's also possible Tonje didn't like what he saw at Missouri last season and wanted out.
