What kind of roster will it take for a coach like Gates to

be competitive in March?
Not only beating teams like Drake & Princeton, but having a chance of getting past the second round.
There seem to be two problems:
(1) Well-coached teams tend to develop & improve down the stretch, while Gates' teams tend to get worse.
(2) In the NCAA Tournament, opposing coaches have more time & motivation to prepare, amplifying their coaching advantage which further offsets our talent advantage.
So the question is...
With a roll-the-ball-out coach like Gates, how much more talent will it take?... We've already poured millions into the portal – Do we need a roster full of future NBA lottery picks?... Or do we simply need to hire an assistant who understands the game & knows how to teach it?
