That was disappointing but also fascinating to watch. Drive to the basket and draw defenders and then pass to a trailer for a 10 ft jump shot. Completely foreign to our team.
Having said that we had great attendance this season so our system is apparently what fans prefer to watch. Losing 95 - 81 is more fun than winning 67-57. One reason Gates was hired was because Martin's scheme was seen as too boring. The word "exciting" was used at the Gates introduction. Run the court and jack up shots.
If I was running the university which for years has had to prop up the athletic department with millions of taxpayer dollars I wouldn't fire Gates with attendance being this good. Gates is doing what he was hired to do. Draw crowds.
