He was a poor hire in terms of of being hired at a program like MU given his lack of success at this level, but that doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t eventually work out and the risk will pay off and be worth it. Unproven but with potentially the skill set to succeed
Not sure I agree that MU was in a position to take such a risk, but the prior 2 coaches had certainly been historically abysmal and the program was in a very bad spot. I can certainly see the argument for taking a risky hire with potential upside over a more proven commodity with the potential to just do ok.
