That also necessarily requires further massive military spending, which you are decrying here, and asking "How is that in the interests of the American people?" No?
Given that the US had already spent billions and Russia has Ukraine on the ropes... they've already taken a large swath of land and have depleted the Ukrainian army to the point that they cannot replace the dead and maimed on the battlefield... Russia appears to be in a position to put Ukraine out of its misery. How could the US protect Ukraine at this point without escalating expenditures and without putting US boots on the ground... without resorting to an escalation risking nuclear war &/or world war?
