costing the conference at least 1 playoff bid, it's hard to see the league moving to a 9-game schedule unless it's guaranteed at least 5 bids (6 bids if the playoff expands to 16).
Plus, ESPN still hasn't agreed to increase the SEC's payout after adding Texas & Oklahoma. They've played hardball with the contract and its escalator clause, so the SEC should remain at 8 or even drop to a 7-game schedule.
