Football needs to cutback on scholarship requirements in the age of NIL which would alleviate some of that expense, maybe allowing for MU to cut say women’s tennis too. It’s not that I wish for the doom of sports I don’t care about but I’d like to see less money needed for the sports that don’t drive fan interest at this level and only exist for Title 9 reasons. Club sports call for enthusiasts who can’t really pay the bills but drain from the few that do or might.
