1. It's weird that the compassion is for the perpetrator, given the viral response of shock, which, to be fair, is partially racist at its roots, rather than the victim, who got knocked the F upside the head with a baton.

2. High school kids make mistakes. Slow news day if we've been talking about a high school girls track race for 3 days. Who cares. Kids do dumb things.
