I'm not sure if anyone knows her availability. I couldn't find any info on what her contract, buyout, etc., are. Her salary is $250,000.
She's been mentioned as a top candidate because of her success at Drury and GCU. This is her 5th year at GCU and her best season, 27-2 and first place in the WAC.
She has made the WAC tournament finals twice but not won and the team hasn't been ranked or made the NCAA tournament. They've had one WNIT appearance.
The WAC is one of the weaker conferences and next year, GCU moves to the MWC — which is only marginally better. No MWC teams are ranked or even receiving votes. So far, she has little experience or success against D-1 schools. Oregon has been the only power conference school they've played and have lost to them each time.
The question is, is she ready for the D-1 level — especially the SEC? If MU hires her, how long would it take her (assuming she can) to get the program to a consistently competitive level in the SEC?
It's why I think we should hire an assistant coach from one of the top D-1 programs, because they will have a better idea of what it takes to compete and win at a high level.
But having said all this, the only thing that matters is what Veatch wants and what he thinks the MU program should be.
