into the NCAA basketball tournament (carried by CBS) because ESPN owns the broadcast rights to the SEC??

Have you read how the selection process works?

There are 12 athletic directors and conference commissioners on the selection committee. The SEC has one representative (Alabama AD). During the selection process, the Bama AD has to leave the room when Bama is discussed and can be present when other SEC schools are discussed but can only speak when asked a question.

So, knowing that. How does the ESPN/SEC media rights partnership allow for more teams to be selected?
