there are people that i've worked with for years, who literally sit next to me every day in the office, who i hired and actively manage, but if you put me on the spot and ask me their name i come up completely blank. i have to backtrack and think through where they sit and what they do and then after a few seconds i'll get it, but it almost always starts with a complete blank.

and if i see them outside of work it's even worse because they're out of their normal context. my brain short circuits.
