Why hold conference tournaments, except for the $ grab?

Good teams that already are in the real tourney want to rest, after playing a game to knock off the rust. You don't want to go 12 days withjout playing.
Losing the first game doesn't matter at all to an Auburn ( see ku in previous years).
Underdogs on the bubble play their heart out to get a chance to get in. The favorites are flat unless you're playing a traditional rival. Who cares.
MU's seeding will basically be set after the ky game. It will range from 3-5. Winning on the road helps the math but is hard. Especially challenging is winning at Vandy on that funky floor.
