When they say the economy, they mean everything-hotels, food, other things people spend money on they wouldn't have if they didn't visit for a game. They quadrupled their attendance, almost a quarter of a million more attendees than the year before. Say 30% of those were not local, how much would have to be spent on each person to reach $36 million? $500/person. When you consider most visiting fans will get a hotel for at least a night, eat 2-3 meals minimum etc. it isn't far fetched-especially when you include tickets, jerseys, concessions. If you just look at the attendance alone, $36 million divided by 240,000 (more than the previous year) comes out to $150/person.
