A few items to consider:
1. He entered into an agreement with risk. Anything he has spent has been at the benefit of his farm. If it wasn't justified for him to spend it on his own, it's not justified for the fed govt to pay for it. There's no community benefit....
2. Why should I pay for his irrigation system? I'm a farmer and I paid for materials and installed all of my own irrigation. I don't recall him or anyone else pitching in...
3. If you can't farm without the USDA then you shouldn't farm. It's like any other business. I have farmed successfully for 20 years with NO USDA or other government assistance. I'm ok if the USDA goes away.
