Then I don't think that's the craziest idea in the world.
This is one of the best teams in Mizzou basketball history. We started seeing signs of this early in the season in the advanced stats. They're just a hair away from being the highest rated team in school history in Basketball Reference's "Simple Rating System" which quantifies how many points per game better than average you are. Our best team ever in that regard was 88-89, who were 20.8 points above average. Our second best is this year, 20.49 points better than average.
These guys are really, really good, but also happen to be in the middle of flukish year in which the entire SEC is really, really good. Most years, this is probably a team that fights for the conference title.
