The Beehive game-
We beat #10 Oklahoma in Hearnes on our way to the Big 8 title. This was one of the first big home wins after the Stipo era. MU had recently introduced the new “Tiger paw” logo and every fan was given a foam logo about the size of a frisbee. In the final seconds the raucous crowd began flinging the foam paws from everywhere. Stewart pumps his fist as he leaves the court amidst a “beehive” of black and gold foam frisbees.

After beating #1 kU in Lawrence a few days before, the #2 ranked Tigers returned home to face #11 OU. Smith, Peeler, and the Tigers knocked off the Sooners 92-90 to reclaim the #1 ranking in front of a national TV audience on NBC
