And how they use their AA pitchers all season, Bahl and Canady. The first weekend was interesting, with mixed results.

Nebraska never pitched Bahl on consecutive days, giving her a full day off anytime she pitched in a game. Don’t know if she is dinged up a little or if they are being extra cautious and limiting her innings at least early in the season.

She pitched Thursday and looked great, went all the way as Nebraska whipped Tennessee 7-1.

Then didn’t pitch at all Friday as NU beat up on two mediocre teams.

Then she pitched Saturday, in a big showdown against Texas Tech, and had a huge advantage because TT inexplicably rested Canady, and she had a 5-0 lead in the 6th inning, then kicked the game away by allowing 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th and 2 more in the 7th to take a 6-5 loss. She went all the way. Hard to believe Nebraska didn’t feel good enough to bring in a relief pitcher for the last 2 innings with a 5-0 lead.

Then Bahl didn’t pitch at all in Sundays 3-0 loss to Miss St. Very strange use of her all weekend.

Canady and TT was strange too. She started Thursday and went 4 innings as they barely beat Marshall 2-0. Then she started Friday against Miss St and went all 8 innings but got beat 3-1. So they of course rested her against Penn St in the later game Friday, and TT barely won 10-9, having to score 5 runs in the 7th to overcome a 9-5 deficit.

Then on Saturday, rather than throw her against Nebraska and Bahl in the first game, they rested her to pitch later against…Iowa. WTF.

Then they started her Sunday and she went 6 innings in a 3-0 game against powerhouse Kennesaw St. Very strange.
