Something like 80 games, but the 13 against top 25 teams (in the NFCA poll) is something to look at, showcasing the strength and depth of the conference.
SEC went 9-4 against top 25 teams, with Mizzou’s 10-3 beat down of #7 Duke being the most impressive top 25 win, followed by Miss St beating #13 Texas Tech 3-1 in 8 innings. What was impressive about that win was TTs AA pitcher Canady, the 1 million $ woman, pitched all 8 innings and Miss St got to her with 3 runs in the 8th inning for the win.
Here is the list of the SEC top 25 wins in order of ranked opponent:
Mizzou over #7 Duke 10-3
Miss St over #13 Texas Tech 3-1
Miss St over #19 Nebraska 3-0
TAMU over #20 Baylor 10-7
Mizzou over #21 NW 3-0
Tennessee over #21 NW 12-1
Alabama over #22 Washington 7-3 and 5-1
Ole Miss over #25 Clemson 3-2
So Mizzou had the only win over a top 10 team, and 7 of the 9 SEC wins came against teams in the 19-25 spots.
One team was not in the NFCA top 25 but was ranked in the ESPN poll, Michigan at #22. So kudos also to Florida for destroying Michigan 13-1. However that win won’t age past the first weekend, as Michigan also lost to Delaware and Georgia Southern, so they won’t be getting a single vote in any poll this week. They of course come to the Mizzou tournament later this season.
The SEC losses to top 25 opponents were:
Kentucky losing to #7 Duke 6-3
Miss St losing to #7 Duke 8-0
Alabama losing to #16 Arizona 9-1 in 5 innings
Tennessee losing to #19 Nebraska 7-1
