Is starting pitching in softball, like it is in baseball?
For example, in baseball, most teams are only one or two starters deep. The #3 and #4 starters who pitch in the final game(s) of a series or tournament aren't nearly as good. Only the top teams have three (or four) consistently good starters where there's little or no drop-off between them.
When I saw we were playing Notre Dame next and saw they weren't ranked, I thought that might be a game we'd lose because our top starters pitched earlier. We also might have had a letdown after playing two ranked teams in a row.
We beat Iowa today to start the season-opening tournament at 4-1. 5-0 would have been great, but it's only the first week of the season. We'll see what happens from here.
